Kerby Rychel is the Ontario Hockey League Player of the Week for the period ended Sunday, February 10th. In three games, Rychel scored three times and added seven assists for 10 points, as the Spitfires went 1-2 on their annual five-day swing through Eastern Ontario.

GAME BY GAME

FEBRUARY 7TH @ PETERBOROUGH

Rychel started the week with a bang, scoring a goal and adding five assists - for a career-high six points - as the Spits dumped the Petes 9-4 on Thursday night.

Along with Alexander Khokhlachev and Alex Aleardi, the trio combined for 14 points as the Spitfires tallied a season-high in goals and power play goals in a single game (4).

FEBRUARY 9TH @ OTTAWA

Rychel continued to roll in the nation's capital on Saturday evening, scoring once and adding two assists, as the Spitfires dropped an 8-5 decision to the 67s.

FEBRUARY 10TH @ KINGSTON

Rychel wrapped the weekend with the club's only goal in a 3-1 loss to the Frontenacs.

SURGING UP THE LIST

This weekend's performance helped Rychel bust into the Top 10 in league scoring. He is currently tied for 10th with 66 points and is seventh in the leauge in goals with 32.

Rychel is current riding a seven-game point streak, during which he has scored six goals and added 11 assists. Eligible for the 2013 NHL Draft, Rychel competed with Team Orr in the Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game last month in Halifax and was listed at 18th overall among North American Skaters by NHL Central Scouting in their mid-term rankings.

He will be recognized before Friday night's game versus the Sarnia Sting at the WFCU Centre.
