Camden Riversharks News Release
Camden, N.J. â Somerset right fielder Ryan Radmanovich spoiled Gloucester Catholic product Jaime Steward's first career start for the Riversharks as he blasted a pair of home runs to lead the Patriots past Camden, 7-1, on Friday night at Campbell's Field.
Steward, who entered the game with a 10.1 innings scoreless streak, breezed through the first three innings and recorded two outs in the fourth before Radmanovich hit his first home run of the game to put Somerset in front 1-0.
Steward then ran into trouble in the fifth as Chris Lemonis led off the frame with a solo home run. After allowing two of the next three batters to reach base, Manager Wayne Krenchicki turned the ball over to Cliff Foster. Victor Hernandez greeted Foster with a three-run home run that put the game out of reach. Radmanovich finished off the frame by blasting his second home run of the night and fourth of the season.
The seventh and final run of the game came off the bat of Paul Ottavinia when he hit a Nick Rizzo fastball over the wall in left field.
The Riversharks lone run of the game came in the bottom of the ninth inning when Emiliano Escandon overthrew a potential double play ball into the dugout, allowing Brad Straus, who reached base three times in the game, to score.
The Somerset pitching staff used three different pitchers to keep the Riversharks bats at bay all evening. Scott Aldred pitched four innings for the Patriots as he allowed six hits before giving way to Dave Elder in the fifth. Elder then struck out five batters over two innings to earn the win.
The Riversharks conclude its three game series with the Somerset Patriots on Saturday, June 5 at 6:35 p.m. at Campbell's Field. It will be vacation night at the ballpark sponsored by AAA South Jersey and Disney Cruise Lines. All fans arriving on time for the game will be able to watch the Belmont Stakes race featuring Smarty Jones prior to the first pitch. Tickets for all games are available by calling (856) 963-2600, on the web at www.riversharks.com or by visiting the Campbell's Field ticket office during normal business hours.
