Road Warriors overcome Pride, 2-1

(Nashua, NH) - The Pennsylvania Road Warriors won a rare pitchers duel tonight, defeating the Nashua Pride 2-1 in front of 3,876 fans at Historic Holman Stadium.

Trailing 2-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth, Nashua pushed a run across against Pennsylvania starter Luis Arroyo. Kevan Burns started off the frame with a two-bagger to deep right, scoring on a Glenn Murray single.

The Pride threatened again in the eighth, with Burns stroking a one-out triple into the rightfield corner, but Murray flied out to the warning track in left to end the inning.

Pride starter Matt Hammons (3-2) lost his second start in a row against the Road Warriors, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits in six innings. He walked two and struck out three. Arroyo (2-3) beat the Pride for the second straight time, giving up one run on six hits in seven innings. He walked one and struck out five. Pedro Diaz earned his first save of the season for the Road Warriors.

The Pride close out their three game series against the Pennsylvania Road Warriors tomorrow evening, sending Jason Navarro (1-1, 3.60, LHP) up against Julian Heredia (1-3, 5.52, RHP). Game time is 6:35 PM. The first 500 fans age sixteen and under will receive a complimentary Pride baseball, courtesy of US Cellular.
