Ryan Ellis Named the Windsor Spitfires Player of the Week

Ryan Ellis has been red-hot for the Windsor Spitfires of late.

The all-world defenceman had three goals and three assists last week and played big minutes, leading the Spits to two wins and an overtime loss last week.

For his outstanding performance, the 20-year-old Freelton native has been named Windsor Spitfires Player of the Week, for the period ending Sunday January 23rd.

Ellis had two assists in a 6-5 shootout win over Brampton on January 20th.

He followed up that effort with two goals, including the game winner, and a +3 rating in a 5-2 win over Barrie two nights later - breaking Joel Quenneville's record for most goals by a defenceman in the history of the franchise.

In a January 23rd overtime loss to Owen Sound, Ellis posted a goal and an assist and a +1 rating.

Captain Ry is second in OHL scoring among defencemen with 53 points in just 34 games, and 25th in overall league scoring.
