Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
The Shreveport Mudbugs (7-9-4) just couldn't get much going all night and fell to the Lone Star Brahmas, 4-1 at Nytex Sports Centre Saturday night.
After a scoreless opening period, LSB broke the ice early in the second period. On a loose play, it was Matt Macdonald getting some space and roofing in his eighth goal of the season from the left circle to give the Brahmas a 1-0 lead at :41 seconds. Lone Star would add onto their lead at 6:43 as Ray Murakami would loft a shot through traffic which found its way into the net for his second tally of the year and it was 2-0. Shreveport would respond as Ryan Austin flipped a shot from the point which handcuffed LS netminder Arthur Smith and went into the net for his first goal and point of his NAHL career making a 2-1 contest. Eric Vitale and Logan Valkama earned the helpers on the Bugs' first goal of the game.
The Brahmas led in SOG, 17-14 after two.
Lone Star would grab a two-goal lead again as Will Laychur would cause a turnover and score on a breakaway at 4:01 of the third period to make it a 3-1 game in favor of the Brahmas. The Bugs just couldn't stay out of the penalty box which deflated any kind of real comeback attempt as Johan Rosenquist would fire an EN goal at 19:46 to complete a 4-1 win.
Shreveport have now lost six of their past seven contests overall.
The Bugs will have the next weekend off before beginning a two-game series against the El Paso Rhinos on Black Friday - Nov. 25th. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT.
