January 18, 2005 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Chicago Rush News Release
Legendary coach and new Chicago Rush owner Mike Ditka is the centerpiece of the team's 2005 advertising campaign which is asking fans to join "Da Owner" and throw their support behind Chicago's Arena Football team.
The campaign's creative executions feature an image of Ditka holding a Rush helmet and promoting the exciting nature of Arena Football. Included in the campaign is the team's season ticket initiative, in which the first 1,000 new season ticket holders receive a personally autographed football from Ditka.
The six-figure advertising buy, originally launched in mid-December after the press conference to announce Ditka as a new owner, features print, radio, television, outdoor, Web and cinema executions.
"As an owner, I plan to be involved in all aspects of the business," said Ditka. "I want to do whatever I can to help fans discover the great game of Arena Football and, hopefully, this campaign will entice fans to join me in attending games at Allstate Arena."
"Arena Football is old-fashioned, hard-nosed football," said Curt Gruber, Rush vice president of marketing. "What better way to promote Ironman Football than through the ultimate Ironman and Chicago icon â Mike Ditka. So far the results have been terrific, with significant increases in ticket, corporate and merchandise sales, and on-line traffic since the launch of the campaign."
The Rush kicks off its fifth anniversary season with the 2005 home opener set for noon on Sunday, February 6, against Jon Bon Jovi's Philadelphia Soul. Rush season tickets, beginning at just $64, currently are on sale. To reserve your tickets, or for more information about 2005 Rush season tickets, fans can call the Rush at (877) Rush-Tix (787-4849) or visit the team's Web site at www.chicagorush.com.
