Chicago Rush News Release

Chicago Rush defensive specialist Greg Williams has been placed on the AFL's injured reserve list and will miss eight to 12 weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a ruptured tendon in his hand, the Rush announced today.

The surgery, to repair a ruptured flexor tendon in his left ring finger, was performed Tuesday afternoon at Oak Park Hospital by Dr. John Fernandez.

"Greg's surgery was a success and we expect him to make a full and complete recovery," said Rush team doctor Raj Khanna. "He will begin his rehab Friday at HealthSouth and should be back on the field in eight to 12 weeks."

"Losing Greg is a big blow to our defense," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "We pursued him as a free agent to help our secondary and we will have to have other players step up to cover his loss."

Williams performed well in his Rush debut Sunday, recording two tackles and an interception in the team's 50-30 win over Grand Rapids.

The Rush returns home Sunday, February 22, against John Elway's Colorado Crush.
