Royals Training Camp Hits the Ice on Friday, October 3

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the Royals' Pre-Season Training Camp will begin on-ice sessions on Friday, October 3, at 10 am at the Body Zone Sports and Wellness Complex (3103 Papermill Road, Wyomissing, PA, 610-376-2100). Training Camp on-ice sessions at the Body Zone, which are open to the public, are scheduled for 10 am every day thereafter, including Saturdays and Sundays, through Tuesday, October 14. Pre-game skates at the Body Zone (10 am) are also scheduled for each of the Royals' Pre-Season Games against the Elmira Jackals on: (i) Thursday, October 9 (Game Time, 7:05 pm @ First Arena, Elmira, New York); and (ii) Monday, October 13 (Game Time, 7:05 pm @ Body Zone).

Please note that the Royals Pre-Season Training Camp schedule is subject to change, and it is recommended that fans seeking to attend on-ice sessions confirm times in advance.

In addition to players signed to an ECHL contract by the Royals and players assigned to Reading from NHL/AHL teams, the organization has extended training camp invitations to the following players as of this date: (i) Dan Giffin (goaltender); (ii) Matt Curley (defenseman); (iii) Vince Laise (forward); (iv) Michael Lombardi (forward); (v) Charlie Giffin (forward); (vi) Phil Gianfrancesco (forward); and (vii) Andrew Rummel (forward).

As a reminder, tickets to the Royals' Pre-Season Game against the Jackals at the Body Zone on Monday, October 13 are currently on sale. All tickets to this pre-season game are general admission and cost $6.00 for Royals Season Ticket Holders and $8.00 for the general public. Season Ticket Holders must purchase their tickets at the Royals' office (645 Penn Street in Reading; 610-898-7825; 9 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday) or by directly contacting their ticket representative. The general public can purchase tickets to this Pre-Season Game at the Body Zone, as well as the Royals' office.

The Royals open the 2008-09 regular season against the Elmira Jackals on Friday, October 17, 2008 at First Arena in Elmira, New York. The Royals' home opener is set for Saturday, October 25, 2008, when the Johnstown Chiefs visit the Sovereign Center. Royals' full Season Tickets and Total Choice Flex Plans are now on sale.
