
Royals Sign Forward Kyle Laughlin

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed forward Kyle Laughlin ("LOFF lin"). Last season, Laughlin (6'0/190) (24), who hails from Gambrills, Maryland, scored one goal and added an assist (two points) in nineteen games with the Providence College Friars.
Laughlin, who was selected to the Hockey East All-Academic Team in each of his four seasons at Providence College, scored a total of nineteen goals and added twenty-five assists (forty-four points) and picked up twenty-four penalty minutes in 125 total collegiate games. At the conclusion of last season, Laughlin, who served as the Friars' co-captain during his junior and senior seasons, was selected as one of twenty-one nominees for the prestigious Bank of New York Mellon Hockey Humanitarian Award which is presented annually to college hockey's finest citizen. Laughlin's father, Craig, played eight seasons in the NHL and is the long-time television color analyst for the Washington Capitals.
The Royals open the 2009-10 ECHL season on Thursday, October 15, 2009 (7:05 pm) when the Kalamazoo Wings make their first visit ever to the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania.
