Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed defenseman Todd Perry. Last season, Perry (6'3/215) (23), who hails from Ingleside, Ontario, played the majority of the regular season with the Marlies where he registered three points (1g-2a) and thirty-five penalty minutes in twenty-seven AHL games before being assigned to the Royals in late March. Perry, who will be entering his fourth year of pro, played five regular season games with Reading, registering one assist during that stint before being recalled to Toronto. Perry then re-joined the Royals for the post-season, where he was an integral part of the Royals' sixteen game playoff run to the American Conference Finals. In his first year as a pro, Perry played fifty-five regular season ECHL games with the Columbia Inferno, a team that also made a long, if somewhat unexpected, playoff run to the South Division Finals in 2008. Prior to turning pro, Perry played three seasons of major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League and was a member of the 2006-07 London Knights who won the OHL regular season championship. Perry is the fourteenth player (seven forwards, seven defensemen) announced as signed to an ECHL contract by the Royals for the 2010-11 season.

The Royals host the team's tenth anniversary home opener on Saturday, October 23, 2010 (7:05 pm), when the Elmira Jackals visit the Sovereign Center.
