Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals scored three goals in the second period to defeat the Vancouver Giants 4-3 and take the best-of-seven first round series 4-3.

Notes:

Series Recap - Victoria and Vancouver both registered 25 goals in the seven-game series. The Royals posted a mark of 8/31=25.8% with the man-advantage, whereas the Giants held a record of 2/16=11.1%. Victoria's Matthew Phillips earned a total of 16 points (6g-10a) that led all players in the series. Vancouver was led by Tyler Benson who earned 11 points (3g-8a).

Record Breaker - Matthew Phillips is the new franchise leader for most points in a single series with 16 (6g-10a). The previous record was nine points, which was set by Jack Walker and Tyler Soy in Round 1 of 2016 WHL Playoffs and Brandon Magee in Round 1 of the 2015 WHL Playoffs.

Game 7 - Tonight's contest marked the second Game 7 the Royals have taken part in, and their first victory in a winner take all contest. The last time Victoria was involved in a series that went the distance was the 2016 WHL Playoffs when they faced the Kelowna Rockets in Round 2.

On Fire - The Royals had three skaters extend their point streaks tonight. Noah Gregor has 10 points (4g-6a) in his last six games, Matthew Phillips has tallied 14 points (6g-8a) in his previous four contests, while Dante Hannoun has 11 points (3g-8a) in that same span.

Graduating 20's - The Giants had a trio of 20-year-old skaters take part in their final WHL playoff contest tonight. Ty Ronning, Darian Skeoch and Brennan Riddle, who collected a combined total of 401 games played with Vancouver, concluded their WHL careers.
