Brockton, Mass. - The Worcester Bravehearts fell to the Brockton Rox 6-5 Sunday afternoon in Brockton.
The Bravehearts move to 7-3 with the loss, while the Rox improve to 5-5.
Trouble came early for Worcester as the Rox scored three runs on three hits, a walk, and an error in the second inning. The Rox added two to their lead in the third.
Sal Grinstead (Palm Beach State) took matters into his own hands in the fourth, driving home Lewis Barnum (Bryant) and Andrew Chronister (Shippensburg) with a homerun to right-center field, bringing the score to 5-3. In the sixth, Grinstead drove in Gavin Noriega (Marist) and TJ Wachter (Fordham) to tie the game at five.
Brockton's Ryan Donnelly (Sacred Heart) singled to center field to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
Axel Johnson (Stevens) was tagged with the loss for Worcester after allowing one run on two hits through 1.1 innings of work. Brockton's Marshall Whitmer (Georgetown) earned the win.
The Bravehearts return to Worcester Tuesday to face the Nashua Silver Knights for their You-Choose-the-Rules game. This marks the first game in baseball history that two teams will play in a game where the fans make the rules. First pitch is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
