
Rox Offer Sizzling Summer Fun- Special Appearances Include Ernie Harwell and Mamie "Peanut" Johnson

Brockton, MA â The Brockton Rox may be heading down the home stretch of their season but the promotions are just heating up. Ernie Harwell and "Peanut" Johnson are going to be in attendance and honored in the next Rox home stand.
Saturday, August 2nd, is giveaway night at Campanelli Stadium, as the first 1,000 fans will receive a Rox Mini-Bat. Hall-of-Fame broadcaster Ernie Harwell will be in attendance. The voice of Detroit Tigers, Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants baseball, through his illustrious career, will be on-hand and honored in pre-game festivities. Harwell will be signing autographs for fans prior to the game.
The home stand will open on Wednesday, July 30 when the Rox pay homage to the Negro Leagues, presented by Dial/Purex. Mamie "Peanut" Johnson, first female pitcher in the Negro Leagues, will share her truly heroic tale of playing professional baseball. The Rox and Jackals will be wearing throwback jerseys in honor of the Negro Leagues and their will be a special tribute to Larry Doby prior to the game.
In honor of Major League Baseball's trading deadline, Thursday, July 31, the Rox will countdown the worst deadline trades in baseball history on the video board. The fun continues as a spoofed version of the 70's game show "Let's Make A Deal" will be played during the game. Fans, who are encouraged to dress up in crazy costumes, will get a chance to win various prizes or gag gifts depending on their luck.
Friday, August 1, the night sky in Brockton comes alive with a Fireworks display at Campanelli Stadium. Camping out at Campanelli, the Boy Scouts will be having a sleepover on the field after the game.
The Brockton Rox play their home games in the city of Brockton's new, state-of-the-art baseball facility, Campanelli Stadium adjacent to the Shaw's Center, a meeting and banquet facility. The club plays a 92-game schedule in the eight-team independent Northeast League.
