
Rox Dominate Stingers, Start Second Half with Shutout Victory

St. Cloud, MN - St. Cloud (26-8) was in control from start to finish on Wednesday night at the Rock Pile, with a 10-0 shutout win over Willmar (21-14).
Joe Brandon (Georgia State) made his first start of the season and was fantastic on the bump. Brandon tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and one walk. To finish the outing, Brandon retired the final ten batters he faced.
The Rox bullpen combined for the final four shutout innings with Conner Wolf (Central Missouri) recording two shutout innings and got out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh. Rafael Acosta (Georgia State) struck out the side in order in the eighth as well.
The top of the order led the way for St. Cloud on Wednesday with the top four batters in the lineup accounting for 10 of the Rox' 14 hits. John Nett (St. Cloud State) came up a double shy of the cycle, hitting his third home run of the season in the seventh.
Brice Matthews (Nebraska) continued his hot hitting at the plate with four hits in four tries on the night. Behind him, Charlie Condon (Georgia) drove him in a few times with three hits and three RBI's.

St. Cloud starts its longest road trip of the season on Thursday with five straight games away from the Rock Pile. The trip starts with the series finale against Willmar on Thursday, with first pitch at 7:05 pm. The Rox return home on Tuesday to start a series with the La Crosse Loggers, first pitch from Joe Faber Field is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
