Spokane Shock News Release

Spokane, WA: The Shock announced today that QB Kyle Rowley will return to Spokane for the 2011 season. Spokane also announced that DB Terrance Sanders, WR Wes Lyons, OL Ben Ossai, and DL Jon Williams have been added to the 2011 roster.

Rowley is the seventh member of the 2010 ArenaBowl Championship team to re-sign with the Shock. Last season, Rowley set the single-season franchise record for passing yards (4,428) and passing touchdowns (100). In Spokane's 69-57 win over the Tampa Bay Storm in the ArenaBowl XXIII, Rowley was selected as the game's MVP after completing 75% of his passes for 237 yards with nine passing touchdowns (an ArenaBowl record).

"I don't think there is a better quarterback in the league than QB Kyle Rowley," Head Coach Rob Keefe explained. "This is the ultimate team sport and you need a quarterback who has good leadership qualities, understands the game and is willing to do whatever it takes to win a game. We have that now with Kyle Rowley."

DB Sanders, 5-10 180, joins the Shock after spending last season with the Arizona Rattlers. As a Rattler, Sanders led the team in tackles (85) and pass break-ups (11). Sanders also added four interceptions to his 2010 statistics. On special teams, Sanders returned 60 kicks for 1,082 yards (averaging 18 yards/return) with two returned for touchdowns. Before last season, Sanders was a member of the Boise Burn and was named to the all-af2 team in 2008 and 2009.

WR Lyons, 6-8 230, is a rookie to the game of ArenaFootball but is certainly no stranger to the game. Lyons spent time with the New York Jets (2010) after completing his collegiate career at West Virginia. As a Mountaineer, Lyons played in 50 games and recorded 42 receptions for 517 yards and played in the 2007 Gator Bowl and the 2008 Fiesta Bowl.

OL Ossai, 6-6 335, was in camp with the St. Louis Rams after finishing a decorated career at the University of Washington. As a Husky, Ossai played in 48 games and started 42 from 2006-2009.

DL Williams, 6-3 260, spent the 2009 season with the Arkansas Twisters and registered 23 tackles with two sacks in only nine games. In his collegiate career, Williams split time between San Francisco City College and Texas College. During his four-year collegiate career, Williams recorded 88 tackles - including 19 for loss - with 15 sacks.
