Rowdies, Nicky Law Mutually Part Ways
January 4, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Tampa Bay Rowdies News Release
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla - Today the Tampa Bay Rowdies announced that the club has mutually parted ways with Nicky Law in order for the veteran midfielder to pursue other opportunities.
"I would like to thank Neill Collins and the entire coaching staff at the Rowdies for giving me the chance to come to Tampa Bay and enjoy my football again and to challenge for the championship," said Law. "I'm also grateful to all my teammates in Tampa Bay for welcoming me from day one and for all the support the Rowdies fans have shown me during my short time here. I will miss you all!"
Law joined the Rowdies via transfer from Indy Eleven in July of the 2022 USL Championship season. The English midfielder made 15 appearances for the Rowdies and notched two memorable goals during his brief time with the club. Law sparked a two-goal comeback win versus Monterey Bay FC in the final weeks of the regular season and recorded the winning goal in Tampa Bay's playoff win over Miami FC, blasting home a volley from outside the box to put the Rowdies ahead against their in-state rivals.
"Nicky leaves us with a couple of fantastic moments," noted Rowdies Head Coach Neill Collins. "The goal against Miami will go down I think as one of the best we've seen here. Monterey was a very important goal and a very important performance for us at that time of the season. I try to always do what's best for the club but at the same time think about the player, so I can understand why he's keen to pursue another opportunity that we are unable to provide right now. We wish him all the best and thank him for his service to the club. His departure gives us another opportunity to strengthen the squad."
