Round Rock Express Accepts National Sports Forum's OM Foundation Organizational Award

PORTLAND, Oregon - The Round Rock Express are honored to accept the National Sports Forum's OM Foundation Organization Award at their national meeting Monday evening in Portland. The OM Foundation Organization Award recognizes and celebrates an individual or organization in the sports and entertainment industry that goes above and beyond to better their community.
Express President Chris Almendarez accepted the award as the organization is being recognized for their support of Chris' wife Jana who was diagnosed with a stage IV glioblastoma in June 2015. For the past eight months, the Express has worked with the Central Texas community to not only raise money to support Jana's fight, but also to bring awareness of this horrible disease to the forefront.
"I've always believed we work for the best organization in sports in the best community in the country," said Almendarez. "The National Sports Forum and the OM Foundation recognizing the Express and the Central Texas community for their outpouring of love and support during this time solidifies that. We will continue to fight for #TeamJana together."
The National Sports Forum's OM Foundation Award was created in 2014 and presented in a partnership with Bonner Paddock and the OM Foundation. It recognizes an individual or organization that goes above and beyond their 9-5 responsibilities, is actively "doing good" in their community, is positively impacting the lives of those around them and is making a difference. The Cincinnati Bengals won the organizational award in 2015 for their support of defensive end Devon Still and his daughter, Leah, as she battled stage IV cancer.
