Round of 16 Voting Begins Now in the Fresno Famous Bobblehead Tournament

FRESNO, Calif. - The second round of the Fresno Famous Bobblehead Tournament, presented by The Fresno Bee and PG&E, proved tense as four matchups were determined in the final 15 minutes of voting. In the end, 108,648 votes were cast during the three-day second round and over 265,000 votes have been made since the tournament began on March 9th. The Round of 16 begins unlimited voting now at FresnoGrizzlies.com and runs until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23rd.

Kopi Sotiropulos vs. Lupita Lomeli Jerry Tarkanian vs. Sheriff Margaret Mims
Audra McDonald vs. Richard Kiel Danny Salas (Q97) vs. Ickey Woods
Derek Carr vs. Jenifer Alcorn Fashawn vs. Greg (Q97)
Heidi Watney vs. Robin Lopez Yo Boy Dub (Q97) vs. Mayor Ashley Swearengin
Audra McDonald and Ickey Woods held off late rallies in the second round, while Mayor Swearengin and Fashawn stormed back in the final minutes to defeat Steve Perry and Ralph Wood, respectively. MLB Network took to social media to help Heidi Watney fend off KMJ morning host Matt Otstot. =A1 Arriba Valle Central! anchor Lupita Lomeli garnered a tournament high 10,378 votes as she defeated radio personality Gnarley Charley to advance. The two combined to attract 19,276 votes.
The largest margin of victory for the second straight round was by the late Jerry Tarkanian, who defeated Quincy Pondexter by 1,786 votes. The three radio musketeers from Q97.1 FM all advanced as Danny Salas defeated Stefani Booroojian, Greg conquered Pop Laval, and Yo Boy Dub edged Lindsey Pena.
As a reminder, the overall winner of the tournament, announced on April 6th, will have their likeness placed on a bobblehead that is given to the first 1,500 fans at the Grizzlies Saturday, August 22nd home game vs. Round Rock, Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers.
To determine the winner, the Grizzlies continue to run an online March Madness style bracket on FresnoGrizzlies.com that allows fans to vote for their favorite(s). All those voting are encouraged to use #FresnoFamous and tag the Fresno Grizzlies in social media posts. An updated bobblehead tournament bracket is attached to reference the matchups and allow fans to follow the remaining four rounds of voting.
