Roughnecks to Hold "Roughnecks Olympics" from Midland County Fair

MIDLAND, TX. : The West Texas Roughnecks have announced on Wednesday, August 4 that the organization has partnered up with the Midland County Fair to host the first annual Roughnecks Olympics. The event is open to the Permian Basin community and it is a co-ed event allowing anyone interested to participate.
Each team must provide a $100 entry fee to participate which must be paid before the opening ceremony. All groups that are interested in participating must compile a four-person team, and all teams will be required to wear team T-shirts during all events. The West Texas Roughnecks will additionally provide their own team featuring players who will participate in all the events.
The Opening Ceremony for the Roughnecks Olympics will take place Thursday, August 19 beginning at 6:00 p.m. with all teams that are participating to be recognized from the Midland County Horseshoe Events Center. Events will begin on Friday, August 20 at 6:00 p.m. featuring competitions such as the Wrench Toss and Tricycle Derby. Events for Saturday, August 21 will start at 11:00 a.m. beginning with a Rock Climbing competition. Saturday's events will conclude with a Football Skills Competition featuring target practice accuracy, kick-off distance, and blocking obstacle events. The final day of events will be on Sunday, August 22 beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a Tug-of-War competition.
Awards & Closing Ceremonies will take place on August 22 beginning at 4:00 p.m. Participation in both the opening and closing ceremonies is not required, but preferred. All teams must complete a registration form which is available at the West Texas Roughnecks Front Office located at 10716 Highway 191, Suite #6 in Midland or online at the Roughnecks official website, www.wtxroughnecks.com.
