West Texas Roughnecks News Release

ODESSA, TX. The NFL style, 16-game schedule has been announced for the 2004 Intense Football League campaign. The Odessa Roughnecks are very pleased with league efforts to create a schedule that is as balanced as possible while still focusing on natural rivalries.

The Roughnecks open the season with a May 1st Bye-Week, giving the team an additional opportunity to prepare and even scout the opposition. Odessa's 8-10 day training camp will begin a week later than the rest of the IFL and put the team in a better position to prepare. The playing season then has the Roughnecks hosting the Corpus Christi Hammerheads on Saturday May 8th. This will be the first of sixteen straight playing weeks for the team with the season also ending at home on Saturday, August 21st versus the San Angelo Stampede. An additional highlight to the 2004 season is the IFL All-Star game to be played in Corpus Christi on Sunday, July 11th.

The Roughnecks are proud to host all weekend games with six Saturday night home games and two on Fridays. "This gives the community a much better opportunity to enjoy every single game without having to worry about getting to the arena on time or getting the kids to bed too late on a school night.", commented team president Tommy Benizio, "We look forward to providing the Permian Basin with a great family entertainment option all summer long."
