ODESSA, TX. A thrilled crowd of 4,202 clung to the edge of their seats as the Odessa Roughnecks defeated the visiting Louisiana Swashbucklers at the RoughHouse on Saturday night. In a game where the lead continually changed hands. Odessa ended up on top for a 53-47 victory. Both the Roughnecks and the Everett (Wash.) Hawks remain unbeaten and atop of the National Indoor Football League.
Quarterback Jason Johnson earned five touchdowns, utilizing wide receivers Wayne Thomas and Joel Babb for three, and two scores respectively. The tough Swashbuckler team dropped to 5-2 but remain in the top spot in their division.
The Roughnecks are back on the road this weekend traveling to San Angelo to face the Stampede for the first time this season. San Angelo (1-5) has earned their first victory with a road win in Lubbock last night. Game time is 5:05 PM and all of the action can be heard on 97 Gold FM. The Roughnecks return home on May 14th to face the Corpus Christi Hammerheads.
