Roughnecks Sign RB Evin Jones, Receive Commitment from DB Anquanius Frazier

MIDLAND, TX. : The West Texas Roughnecks have announced on Thursday, October 28 that the organization has signed former Sacred Heart University running back Evin Jones for the 2011 season. The Roughnecks have also announced that the team has received a commitment from defensive back Anquanius Frazier for the upcoming 2011 season. Evin Jones spent four seasons with the Sacred Heart program (2005-2008) and recorded 1,174 rushing yards as a senior in '08. Anquanius Frazier was a two-year starter at East Texas Baptist where he earned All-American Southwest Conference honors and was a two-time All-SWJCFC defensive back at Tyler Junior College before transferring to East Texas Baptist.

RB Evin Jones Ht. 6'1", Wt. 215 lbs., Sacred Heart University - As a senior at Sacred Heart in 2008, Evin Jones posted his most productive season by rushing for 1,174 yards on 234 carries and recorded 12 rushing touchdowns. Jones additionally posted 30 receptions for 227 yards and two touchdowns during the 2008 season. Jones held standout performances against Assumption in the '08 season-opener by rushing for 210 yards and four touchdowns, and against Robert Morris where he recorded 187 yards on 33 carries and one touchdown.

As a junior in 2007, Jones posted 324 rushing yards on 77 carries and averaged 4.3 yards a carry. He would finish the '07 season with three rushing touchdowns and recorded 17 receptions for 85 yards. Jones would see playing time as a sophomore in 2006 and rushed for 437 yards on 101 carries with one touchdown. Jones posted 29 receptions for 144 yards in 2006 averaging 5.0 yards a reception. Jones quickly made an impact as a freshman in 2005 by rushing for 212 yards on 40 carries including one touchdown and posted 24 receptions for 161 yards and two scores. Jones has officially signed with the West Texas Roughnecks for the 2011 season after initially committing to the Billings Outlaws during this off-season.

"Evin will bring a different element to our running game in 2011. He has good athletic abilities and can be a valuable receiver coming out of the backfield. He will be an important factor in terms of our running game and our offensive unit this upcoming season." stated West Texas Roughnecks Head Coach Chris Williams.

DB Anquanius Frazier Ht. 6'1", Wt. 195 lbs., East Texas Baptist / Tyler Junior College - Defensive back Anquanius Frazier started for two seasons while at East Texas Baptist following two seasons at Tyler Junior College. As a senior at ETB in 2008, Frazier finished ninth on the team with 31.0 total tackles and led the program with four interceptions. Frazier additionally finished first with 10 pass break-ups and 14 passes defended. Frazier posted two interceptions in games versus Sul Ross State & Mississippi State during the '08 regular season, and returned one kickoff back 62 yards for a touchdown.

As a junior in 2007, Frazier was named second team All-American Southwest Conference after recording three interceptions and a team-high 10 pass break-ups, five of which came in the end-zone. Frazier finished the 2007 season with 23 total tackles (14 solo) and also averaged 20.0 yards on nine kick returns. Frazier tallied nine total tackles and an interception in the program's last four games of the 2007 season and he would be named to the ASC All-Academic Team.

While at Tyler Junior College, Frazier was a two-time first-team All Southwest Junior College Conference selection at cornerback. Frazier was named a JUCO preseason All-American prior to the 2006 season and finished third in the conference with four interceptions following the 2006 season.

"Anquanius will be a great fit for our secondary this spring. He has good range, speed, and the size that we are looking for in a defensive back. It has the ability to help us on special teams and we are hopeful that he can be a consistent play-maker in our secondary." explained Williams.
