Roughnecks Receive Commitments from Receivers Josh Floyd & Wilson Kimble

MIDLAND, TX. : As the 2011 IFL regular season grows closer, the West Texas Roughnecks continue to build their roster as the organization has announced today (October 15) that the team has received commitments from wide receivers Josh Floyd & Wilson Kimble. Josh Floyd commits for his second season with the Roughnecks after leading the team in all-purpose yards during the 2010 regular season. Wilson Kimble commits for his first season with the organization following his college career at both Fort Valley State and the University of West Georgia. Kimble led the West Georgia program in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown receptions as a senior in 2008.

WR Josh Floyd, Ht. 5'10", Wt. 190 lbs., Chowan University - Wide receiver Josh Floyd becomes the Roughnecks third starting receiver to commit this off-season for the upcoming 2011 regular season. Floyd initially began the 2010 IFL regular season with the Richmond Revolution but was traded to the Roughnecks in mid-March. Floyd made an immediate impact in his debut for the Roughnecks by posting seven receptions for 63 yards including 83 yards on five kick returns in Week 3 against Corpus Christi. Floyd led the Roughnecks in all-purpose yards (877) in 2010 and finished third on the team with 37 receptions for 440 receiving yards, and five receiving touchdowns.

Floyd became an important multi-positional player in the Roughnecks offensive unit by recording two rushing touchdowns and finishing second behind DB Austin Smith with 379 kick return yards in 11 games played. Floyd's breakout performance came against the Austin Turfcats in Week 9 when he recorded nine receptions for 116 yards and three touchdowns. In the win over Austin, Floyd added 23 yards on kick returns and recorded the longest touchdown reception for the Roughnecks in 2010 at 48 yards.

"Josh is a talented wide receiver and an important offensive weapon who can make impact plays on the ground and on special teams. His play on the field will continue to develop especially with his experience from 2010. He is a key component to our passing game and our staff is expecting impact plays from him on offense and special teams." stated West Texas Roughnecks Head Coach Chris Williams.

As a senior and starting quarterback at Chowan University in 2007, Floyd was a dual-threat factor for the Hawks program. Floyd led the program with 1,271 passing yards and 11 touchdowns in '07, and led the team with 614 rushing yards with seven rushing touchdowns. Floyd averaged 4.1 yards a carry on the ground and averaged 188.5 yards of total offense a game in 2007.

WR Wilson Kimble, Ht. 6'3", Wt. 205 lbs., Fort Valley State / University of West Georgia - Wilson Kimble is a talented wide out who spent his first three seasons in college at Fort Valley State before transferring to West Georgia. As a senior at West Georgia in 2008, Kimble led the Wolves program with 41 receptions for 668 yards and five receiving touchdowns in eight games played. Kimble led the Wolves in yards per catch (16.3), average receiving yards a game (83.5), and recorded the longest touchdown reception of 2008 at 87 yards. Kimble finished second on the team with 208 kick return yards in 2008, and finished second with 886 all-purpose yards.

While at Fort Valley State, Kimble earned Team Captain honors and posted an impressive season in 2007 by recording 13 receptions for 166 yards and one touchdown. Kimble's best performance at Fort Valley came against Benedict where he recorded a game-tying touchdown, two-point conversion, and posted a 54-yard reception to set up the game-winning field goal.
