Roughnecks Receive Commitment From Former Texas A&M Db, Alton Dixon

ODESSA, TX. : The Odessa Roughnecks announced on Monday, November 23, 2009 following both a combine workout led by Roughnecks Head Coach, Chris Williams in Lufkin, Texas on Saturday, November 21, 2009 and a press conference in Lufkin on Sunday, November 22, 2009 that the team has received a commitment from former Texas A&M defensive back, Alton Dixon, for the 2010 season. Additionally, RB Jorvorskie Lane and QB Terrance Parks both officially signed contracts during the press conference to play with the Roughnecks for the 2010 season. Both Lane and Parks participated in the Roughnecks combine workout on Saturday from the Lufkin High School indoor facility.

During his senior season with Texas A&M in 2008, Dixon (5'11", 197 lbs.) led the Aggies defense with 94 total tackles in 12 games played including two tackles-for-loss and two pass break-ups. Dixon made the transition from defensive back to linebacker during his senior season to add quickness up front for the Aggies' defense.

As a junior in 2007, Dixon played in all 13 games that season and started in 11 of the 13 games in the Aggies' secondary. He finished fourth on the team with 77 total tackles including 27 solo tackles. Dixon posted double-digit tackling performances against Montana State (10) and Oklahoma State (12). In 2007, Dixon additionally recorded two sacks, five tackles-for-loss, forced two fumbles and posted three fumble recoveries along with three pass break-ups.

In his sophomore campaign in 2006, Dixon contributed 10 total tackles for the Aggies' defense including a season-high three tackles versus the Citadel. Dixon saw action in 12 games during the 2006 season. Dixon earned a prominent role in the Aggies' secondary as a freshman in 2005 posting 22 total tackles. Dixon recovered a fumble against SMU and recorded a season-high four tackles against Colorado, Oklahoma State and Iowa State.

Dixon was a three-year starter at Lufkin High School and was a two-time All-District and All-East Texas selection. Dixon was named to the SuperPrep's All-American Team after registering 89 total tackles, two interceptions and 16 pass break-ups as a senior at Lufkin High.

RB Jorvorskie Lane holds the Texas A&M record for rushing touchdowns with 49. Lane rushed for 725 yards and set a school record with 19 rushing touchdowns during his sophomore season in 2006. Lane additionally rushed for 780 yards as a junior in 2007 and posted 16 touchdowns. QB Terrance Parks spent three seasons with the Baylor program where he made the transition from quarterback to wide receiver during the 2006 season. Parks was named the Most Improved Player in 2004 according to the Baylor Coaching Staff. Lane was a three-year starter at Lufkin High School where he rushed for 3,671 yards and 70 touchdowns, while Parks was the starting tight end for the Lufkin State Championship team in 2001. Parks additionally led Lufkin to the state semi-finals at quarterback during the 2002 season.
