West Texas Roughnecks News Release
ODESSA, TX. The Odessa Roughnecks unveiled their Pacific Conference Divisional Championship Banner today in Odessa at D and D Photo, the official photographer of the Odessa Roughnecks. The banner, which commemorates the team's undefeated 14-0 regular season, will be unveiled at a special ceremony, prior to kickoff at this Saturday's July 9th playoff game versus the Beaumont Drillers, game time at 7:11pm.
"To have a winning season is good, to make the playoffs is great, but being undefeated is a statement of just how terrific this team is," said team president Tommy Benizio. "While we are thrilled to have our first Division Championship Banner hanging at the Ector County Coliseum, I won't be satisfied until the banner that proclaims us league champions is hanging from the rafters," stated Head Coach Chris Williams, "our goal is to be more than Divisional Champions, it's to win it all."
"I would like to give a special thank you to Jerry Mitchell of D and D Photo, the official photographer of the Odessa Roughnecks, and McAlister's Deli for providing the location and refreshments for this special occasion," said Tommy Benizio.
The Roughnecks first playoff game will be this Saturday July 9th at the Ector County Coliseum. Tailgating begins at 5:00pm with kickoff following at 7:11 pm. The Permian Basin chapter of the American Red Cross will be hosting the tailgate party and will be supported by the Roughnecks and local celebrities during the game. The Roughnecks encourage the community and fans to contribute to the Red Cross Society.
