MIDLAND, TX. : In relation to recent incidents that have occurred with former Director of Operations Ernie Salcido and the West Texas Roughnecks Professional Football organization, the Roughnecks would like to reiterate on Monday, May 10 that the organization is moving forward in a positive manner.

Additionally, the Roughnecks have addressed concerns from the public in regards to Ernie Salcido's previous responsibilities within the organization, more specifically as the team's mascot. Since the beginning of the 2010 season Roughnecks Dance Team Choreographer Welton Blaylock has been the team's mascot representative.

"We understand that there are questions and concerns from the Permian Basin community in regards to this matter. As a reminder, we are moving forward and have parted ways with Mr. Salcido. Also, Welton Blaylock has been our representative as the team's mascot since the beginning of the season and we appreciate all the work he has put forth to help our organization." stated West Texas Roughnecks Team Owner Dale Morris.

The Roughnecks return home this week to host the Arkansas Diamonds on Saturday, May 15. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:11 p.m. from the Ector County Coliseum and the gates open at 6:00 p.m. The first 1,000 fans will receive a free Roughnecks Joel Babb T-shirt and free pizza courtesy of Domino's.
