Roughnecks Introduce Jay & Dale Morris As New Owners

ODESSA, TX. : The Roughnecks professional football organization held a press conference on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 to announce and introduce Jay & Dale Morris as the news owners of the Roughnecks. The Morris Family has been in business together since 1980 in which during that year they relocated from Oklahoma City, OK to Texas. Before entering the oil business, Jay Morris began his career as a home builder in 1980. Dale, who is the grandson of Jay Morris, is a 1993 graduate of Midland Lee High School.
"We are absolutely excited and overwhelmed to be the new owners of the Roughnecks. We are certainly looking forward to taking this organization to the next level and I am thrilled to be involved with an organization that has had a strong impact on the Permian Basin community for six seasons." stated Roughnecks Team Owner, Dale Morris.
Dale Morris, who was born in Oklahoma City but raised in Texas, began his own business and family in 1996. Currently, Morris owns and operates Dales Planet Comics, Inc. Morris currently resides in Midland, TX with his wife (Andrea), son (Baegan, 12) and daughter (Mia, 5).
"We have been constant supporters of the Roughnecks organization ever since their inaugural season. We are going to take all the necessary steps to help get this team back to winning form. We are looking forward to working with the Indoor Football League and we are truly excited for this upcoming season." further explained Morris.
Following the introduction of their new ownership on Tuesday, January 12, the Roughnecks additionally announced that the team name has been officially changed to the West Texas Roughnecks. The name change, in conjunction with the new season slogan, "New Name, New Season, New Attitude", stands to represent all the communities of the Permian Basin. It is the first name change in the history of the organization following six seasons (2004-2009) in which the organization was named the Odessa Roughnecks.
"This organization has enjoyed much success for six seasons as the Odessa Roughnecks. However, we want to adapt and represent all the communities of the area, and this name change is a big step for us moving forward and preparing for what I think will be a very successful season." stated West Texas Roughnecks General Manager, Harold Fuller.
Additionally, the organization unveiled the new team logo for the West Texas Roughnecks. Furthermore, the West Texas Roughnecks announced the location of the team's new front offices located at 10716 Highway 191, Suite #6 in Midland, TX. The new phone number for the West Texas Roughnecks will be (432) 563 - KICK (5425) and the new fax number will be (432) 563 - 5428. The organization additionally plans to launch their new website (www.westtexasroughnecks.com) in the next few days. The West Texas Roughnecks will begin operating in their new front office location beginning Monday, January 18, 2010.
