
Roughnecks Improve to 7-2 with 82-27 win over Arizona

MIDLAND, TX.: With outstanding performances from both sides of the football, the West Texas Roughnecks defeated the Arizona Adrenaline on Saturday evening (May 7) 82-27 from Prescott Valley, Arizona. The Adrenaline (0-10) began the ball game with a 12-0 lead over the Roughnecks in the first quarter with two touchdown passes from QB Dennis Havrilla. The Roughnecks (7-2) would counter with 21-unanswered points with two touchdown passes from QB Arkelon Hall and a rushing touchdown from RB Evin Jones. Entering the second-half leading 21-19, the Roughnecks would record 61 second-half points to pull away with the 82-27 win as the Roughnecks defense recorded seven interceptions, including a safety and two defensive touchdowns.
The Adrenaline opened the game leading 6-0 following a 25-yard touchdown pass from QB Dennis Havrilla to WR James Mayfield. After the Roughnecks turned the ball over on fourth down and goal, Arizona would extend their lead to 12-0 with a 28-yard touchdown pass from Dennis Havrilla to WR Chris Faulker. The Roughnecks would go on to score 21-unanswered points as Evin Jones posted a one-yard touchdown run, and QB Arkelon Hall connected with wide outs Josh Floyd & Wilson Kimble for touchdown passes. Roughnecks defensive backs Marrio Norman and Derrick Boyd would record interceptions in the first half, however the Adrenaline narrowed the deficit before halftime 21-19 following a one-yard touchdown run from RB Robert Jones.
The Roughnecks started the second-half in strong fashion beginning with a 16-yard touchdown pass from QB Arkelon Hall to WR Josh Floyd to give the Roughnecks a 27-21 lead. Following the score, Roughnecks defensive linemen Ronnie Mason intercepted Adrenaline QB Dennis Havrilla returning it 15 yards for a touchdown giving the Roughnecks a 34-21 edge. The Roughnecks defense would produce once again on the next Arizona drive as DL Jeremiah Turner sacked QB Dennis Havrilla forcing a fumble in the process in which DL Jeramie Richardson recovered for a touchdown extending the Roughnecks lead to 40-21. The Roughnecks would cap the third quarter off with a 21-yard diving touchdown reception by WR Tim Bush off the arm of QB Akelon Hall giving the Roughnecks a 47-27 lead.
The Roughnecks would continue their surge into the fourth quarter as QB Arkelon Hall threw for three more touchdowns with one to WR Josh Floyd, and two to WR Wilson Kimble one of which was a 48-yard touchdown pass to close out the game. Running backs Evin Jones & DeWayne Hogan would combine for two touchdown runs in the fourth quarter as the Roughnecks secondary produced four interceptions in the fourth quarter alone. Defensive backs Marrio Norman, Anthony Beck, and Derrick Boyd all recorded two interceptions a piece in the win.
The West Texas Roughnecks will return home next week to host the Allen Wranglers in a key Lone Star Divisional match-up on Saturday, May 14 at the Ector County Coliseum. The Arizona Adrenaline enter a bye week before they host the Oklahoma City Bricktown Brawlers on Saturday, May 21 in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
