
Roughnecks Come up Short

Calgary, AB - Jerome Thompson scored 4:18 into overtime to lift the Buffalo Bandits to a 15-14 victory over the Calgary Roughnecks on Saturday at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Bandits forward Dhane Smith scored five goals and added five assists for a game-leading 10 points while Chad Culp (3), Ryan Benesch (2), Joe Resetarits (2), Kevin Brownell and Mark Steenhuis also had goals in the win.
Shawn Evans and Curtis Dickson both had strong performances as the pair of forwards each recorded two goals and six assists for the Roughnecks. Karsen Leung (2g, 3a) and Dane Dobbie (2g, 3a) both had five-point efforts while Jeff Shattler and Daryl Veltman each scored hat tricks in the home setback.
Anthony Cosmo made 44 saves to record his fourth win of the season while Frankie Scigliano turned aside 42 shots in his first start at the 'Dome.
The Roughnecks (0-5) will now prepare for a home-and-home series against the Vancouver Stealth (2-3), beginning next Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Langley Events Centre and concluding on Feb. 21 at 7:00 p.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
