
Roughnecks attract more talent

Odessa, Texas. The Odessa Roughnecks are just a few weeks away from training camp and Head Coach Chris Williams is busy making his list of forty players that he's allowed to bring to camp on February 20th. Williams has traveled to San Antonio, Alabama, and Florida on recent recruiting trips and spends much of his time on the phone with hopefuls. His most recent signee's include a returning All-Star player and two additions on the offensive side of the ball.
Jeff Aaron, 6'3" and 215lbs, is a Quarterback from the University of Alabama-Birmingham and spent two years playing in the Arena 2 Football League. Aaron was a highly rated NFL prospect coming out of college where he passed for over 3,000 yards. Aaron is described as having a very strong arm and a enduring athlete.
Larry Thompson, 6'1" and 180lbs, a Defensive Back from San Jose State returns after being named the Roughnecks Defensive Player of the year, and a fan favorite, in 2004. Thompson led Odessa with 9 interceptions and was selected to play in the 2004 All-Star game.
Kevin Harris, 6'3" and 305 lbs, will be joining the Roughnecks after holding the position of Captain of Alabama State University Football team in 2003. Harris only allowed five sacks over his entire career at Alabama State and was named to the All Southwest Athletic Conference 1st team in 2003. "Harris is a very talented blocker and we are blessed to have a gifted player of this caliber, he will play a major role in protecting our quarterback this year," beamed Coach Williams.
D.T.Hopkins, 6'2" and 260lbs, played for Tarleton State University and was the second leading rusher in 2002 with over 700 yards. Hopkins helped lead TSU to two Conference Championships in 2001 and 2002. Hopkins had over 2000 yards and 25 touchdowns during his career at Tarleton.
Training camp for the Odessa Roughnecks and the NIFL begins on February 20th. Just a few VIP level season tickets are still available.
