Roughnecks add experienced QB to roster

ODESSA, TX. : The Odessa Roughnecks have added QB Tony Colston to the 2008 roster to help fill the opening at the position. Colston (6'3", 205 lbs.) was called to join the team in Alaska following the injury to starting QB Dennis Gile, who will be looking at 2 to 4 weeks of recovery for his separated right shoulder that was suffered against the Fairbanks Grizzlies back on Saturday, March 22, 2008.

Colston is a native of Tennessee and has excellent experience in indoor football. In 2007, Colston completed 96 of 171 passes for 941 yards and 16 touchdowns with just 9 interceptions for the Tennessee Valley Vipers of the AF2. Colston briefly played with the Vipers in 2006 before playing for the CenTex Barracudas of the IFL where he completed 88 of 170 passes for 1,133 yards with 29 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.

Colston, 26, transferred from Tennessee Tech to Tusculum College where he played from 2002-04 and became Tusculum College's most prolific passer. He owns several career school records including, career passing yards (6,307), career completions (544), career touchdown passes (37) and career completion percentage (.635).

The Roughnecks continue their regular season at the Alaska Wild on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at 3:00 p.m.
