Rough Riders Shut Out by Kings

Long Island Rough Riders News Release

Cincinnati, OH - The Long Island Rough Riders did little to help out their playoff chances, as they were defeated by the Cincinnati Kings 2-0 Friday night in Cincinnati, OH.

Both teams did well to shut down each other's offense in the first half, ending the first 45 minutes with no score. The Kings came out strong, forcing Rough Riders goalkeeper Paul Grafer to make 5 saves, while Kings keeper Matt Gibson didn't need to make a single save during the half.

Cincinnati began their road to victory in the 77th minute, when Travis Sobers made a quick pass from in front of the goal to George Kithas, who sent a rocket into the back of the net from 10 yards out for his fifth score of the season.

The Kings finished their shooting display when Jack Cummings assisted a goal by Moussa Dagnogo in the 80th minute. Cincinnati was the more dominant of the two offenses throughout the match, overwhelmingly outshooting the Rough Riders 21 to 5.

The Rough Riders now fall to 6-8 on the season, with six games left to try to make the playoffs. They continue their three game road trip when they roll into Pittsburgh on Sunday, July 24th at 7:05 PM trying to get revenge on a Riverhounds squad that manhandled them at home 4-1 on July 16th. The next home game is Saurday, July 30th at 7:30PM when the Rough Riders take on the Charlotte Eagles at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale, NY.
