Rough Riders move August 5th game to Tully Field

Plaiview, NY (July 31, 2006) - The Long Island Rough Riders, members of the United Soccer Leagues (USL) 2nd Division, have announced that they will be playing their final regular season home game of the 2006 season at "Michael Tully Field" in New Hyde, NY. The start time for the August 5th game will be at 5:00pm.

The Rough Riders, with the support of the Town of North Hempstead and HIP Health Plans, will be hosting a soccer clinic for the youth players of North Hempstead on site prior to the game, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Teams and individuals interested in participating should call the Rough Riders at (516) 622-3900 or e-mail the team at info@liroughriders.com.

As part of the game festivities, the Rough Riders will also be honoring Mr. Pasquale DeLuca with the annual "Tony Cangero Memorial" Award for his outstanding efforts and contributions to the Long Island soccer community.

Completing their home game schedule, Long Island has faced the Western Mass Pioneers three times earlier this season. The teams have tied twice. Back on June 17th, they played to a 0-0 tie at Stony Brook University. That weekend, June 17th, the two sides then tied 2-2 at Lusitano Stadium in Ludlow, MA. The Pioneers hosted the third game on July 8th, beating the Rough Riders 2-1.

The Long Island Rough Riders will finish out their 2006 USL 2nd Division regular season on the road. The team will head south for back-to-back games at the Charlotte Eagles (August 11th) and Wilmington Hammerheads (August 12th).
