PORT HURON-MI- The Port Huron Beacons announce today the first two player signings for the 2004-05 season.
Center Aaron Brand will be entering his second year of his two-year contract. Brand, 29, came to the Beacons from Cincinnati of the ECHL (East Coast Hockey League) where he posted 65 points in 72 games played in the 2002-03 season. During his first season with the Beacons he added 30 goals and 55 points in 72 games played; In the 9 playoff games he participated in Brand registered 7 points. Brand was also one of three Beacons players to be selected to the UHL's All-Star Game in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Right Wing Joe Sewell, 23, will be entering his second season with the Beacons. He was acquired mid way through the 2003-04 season before playing 28 games combined with the ECHL's Toledo Storm and Augusta Lynx. Sewell finished the year with 29 points and 136 penalty minutes in a total of 69 games played; 22 points and 70 penalty minutes for the Beacons in 41 games. Sewell also contributed 3 points in 9 playoff games.
