Rookie Gordon McLeod comes to Quad Cities

Moline, IL-Quad City Mallards Head Coach and General Manager Brian Curran announced today that right wing Gordon McLeod has been added to the team's 2005-06 roster. The rookie forward will begin his first pro season this fall after appearing in 58 games during his final junior season.

McLeod finished his amateur career with the Winnipeg Saints of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League last season. He recorded 38 points (22 goals and 16 assists) in his final season with the Saints.

In 2003-04, McLeod recorded 37 points (26 goals and 11 assists) in 63 regular season games in Winnipeg. In the post-season, he recorded a point per game with 12 points (six goals and six assists) in 12 contests.

Before joining the Saints, the Pine Falls, Manitoba native attended the prestigious College of Notre Dame, a Canadian preparatory school that has produced numerous National Hockey League players including Mallards Head Coach and General Manager Brian Curran. During the 2002-03 Notre Dame campaign, McLeod recorded 13 points (five goals and eight assists) in 34 games.

"I've gotten very good reports on Gordon," said Curran. "His skating is a strong point and that's an essential quality for my players. He has the potential to make an impact in his rookie season."
