Dayton Demonz News Release
(Dayton, OH) The Dayton Demonz opened a three game home stand in as many nights, here at Hara Arena. Tonight the Danville Dashers looked for their first win on Demonz ice, where they have been unable leave Hara with a victory in 8 tries. History was made tonight, as two brothers raised in Dayton, Lee and Kyle McClure (Dashers), appeared in a professional hockey contest together at Hara Arena.
The storyline for the first two periods was Danville controlling the puck in the Dayton zone. Being more aggressive on the puck, more zip to their skating, and cutting down the Demonz offense with strategically placed sticks. It took Seth Ronseberg's back to back goals only seconds apart, to wake the Demonz up. His third goal, with the Dashers goalie pulled, gave Dayton over Danville 6-4.
All the scoring in the first frame was done in a 3 minute span. Danville's Billy Hunt opened the scoring at the 12:52 mark on a wrist shot that beat the Dayton goaltender, high, glove side. Ahmed Mahfouz of Dayton would tie the game at 1-1, with a goal from the low slot. Only a minute later Danville's David Lun faked a shot, which froze the Dayton goalie, he then sent a nice cross ice pass to Lee McClure, shot the puck into an open net for the 2-1 lead.
In the 2nd Dayton would tie the game 3-3 with just a little over 2 minutes to play in the period. Dayton's Jason Hill tied the game at 2-2, after Dayton began applying pressure mid-way through the period, scoring from the slot area. Two minutes later, Danville on the man advantage, would take a 3-2 lead on Ryan Huggett's shot from the right hash-marks. Ahmed Mahfouz was determined not to have Dayton go into the intermission down by a goal. Mahfouz picked-up a loose puck outside the Danville blue line, carried the puck into the Dashers zone, deked out a couple of Dashers, and scored from the low slot to tie the game on his 2nd goal of the night.
Danville would regain the lead 4-3 early into the 3rd. Dustin Skinner took advantage of a rebound, and put it into the Dayton net from the door-step.
Dayton would even the game at 4-4 on a blast from inside the right-point, by Seth Ronsberg, half way through the period. Amazingly, Ronsberg seconds later, would score again off-the-rush, proved to be the game winner. His empty-net goal (and Hat Trick) with 45 seconds left in the game, would solidify the Dayton victory.
Friday and Saturday night, the Demonz welcome the Thousand Island (New York) Privateers for the first time this season. The Privateers currently lead the league in goals against, while the Demonz lead the league in goals scored.
