Columbus Cottonmouths News Release

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Columbus Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) kicked off training camp on Wednesday, welcoming three more signees - returning Cottonmouth Seth Ronsberg and rookie forwards Patrick McCadden and Sebastien Tremblay to camp.

Ronsberg returns to Columbus, where he spent last season with the Snakes after his rookie 2012-13 season elsewhere in the SPHL with the Mississippi Surge and also in the Federal Hockey League with Dayton. A long-term injury last season relegated Ronsberg to only 14 games with the Cottonmouths, where he scored a goal and logged four assists. The 6'2", 220-pound Ronsberg averaged almost a point a game in two seasons of junior hockey with Winkler in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, notching 107 points (46G, 51A) in 110 games from 2009-11. After playing juniors in Alexandria of the North American Hockey League in 2011-12, he began his pro career in Biloxi in 2012-13, scoring a goal in two games before finding a home for the season in Dayton, scoring 25 points (16G, 9A) in 28 games for the Demonz. The 23-year-old Ronsberg is also one of the few American players on the training camp roster, hailing from Lake Elmo, Minnesota.

McCadden will begin his pro career in Columbus after spending his last six seasons of hockey in the Great Lakes region playing juniors and collegiately. After playing for the NAHL's St. Louis Bandits near his hometown of Chesterfield, Mo. in 2007-08, the 25-year-old McCadden headed north to play for the Green Bay Gamblers in the USHL, scoring a combined 43 points (10G, 33A) there from 2008 to 2010. He then began his collegiate career at Michigan Tech, playing a combined 61 games there from 2010 to 2012 while scoring five goals and six assists in those two seasons. He finished out his junior and senior seasons at St. Norbert College in Wisconsin, serving as alternate captain for the team last year. In two seasons at St. Norbert, the 6'0", 190-pounder scored nine goals and ten assists in 57 games.

Tremblay comes to the Cottonmouths as a rookie after playing four seasons of junior A hockey in his home province of Quebec. The 21-year-old Tremblay scored a combined 73 points (29G, 44A) in 117 games over the past four seasons with Longeuil, Vaudreuil-Dorion, Valleyfield, and Terrebonne in the QJAHL. The 5'10", 200-pounder is also known for bringing a physical presence with a combined 397 penalty minutes over those four years in Quebec.

The Cottonmouths will begin their 11th season as an original member of the SPHL on October 24 with their season opener at home against the Knoxville Ice Bears, but not before hosting the Huntsville Havoc in an exhibition game this Friday night at 7:30 PM at the Columbus Civic Center. Season tickets, group sales, and sponsorship opportunities are available now for the upcoming season.
