Rogues Unable to Avoid Sweep by Elks

BEND, OR - After falling in games one and two against the Bend Elks, the Medford Rogues were unable to pull off the win in game three, and were swept by the Bend Elks in game three, 9-4.

The Elks got on the board early with three runs but Medford was able to answer with three runs of their own in the top of the sixth inning. The Elks answered in the bottom of the sixth, scoring four more runs, extending their lead. Medford was able to score one more run in the top of the ninth inning, by way of a Danny Mayer solo homerun.

Danny Mayer led the offensive side, with two hits in four at-bats, scoring two runs and one RBI. His batting average now sits at .353 in league play and now has seven homeruns this season. Stefan Panayiotou went one for four with one RBI also, with his batting average now at .235.

On the mound for the Rogues, Jackson Bertsch got the start for Medford. He went 5.2 innings, gave up five earned runs on nine hits and struck out four batters. He got the loss for the Rogues and now has an ERA of 7.86. Nate Hunter got the win for the Elks, pitching five innings, giving up two runs, one earned, walked one and struck out three. Hunter now has a season ERA of 4.09.

The Rogues return to Medford Monday to face the Corvallis Knights in another three game series. Monday night's first pitch is at 6:35pm. The Rogues will be honoring the Special Olympics Relay Across America and children under twelve years old, wearing a little league jersey get in free.
