Rogues Take Two from Wenatchee

MEDFORD, OR - After a rainout on Monday, the Medford Rogues swept a double header from the Wenatchee AppleSox in walk off fashion. After infielder A.J. Balta gave the Rogues a 5-4 win in game one, a walk off home run by infielder Caleb Palensky won game two 2-1 at Harry and David Field. Palensky's homer was the only hit of the game for the Rogues.

Game 1: Medford 5, Wenatchee 4

The Rogues scored three runs in the first-inning to go ahead 3-1 with a RBI base hit by designated hitter Kevin Davidson followed by a two RBI hit by outfielder Danny McNabb. Pitcher Dillon Keene started for the Rogues, pitching 5-innings of play allowing four runs on four hits and three strikeouts.

With the bases loaded in the top of the sixth, the AppleSox fought back to tie the game at four, scoring three runs in the inning.

After two walks in the bottom of the seventh-inning, Balta hits a base hit bringing in outfielder Quentin Urban giving the Rogues in a win in game one of the series.

Davidson and Balta each had two hits and one RBI while McNabb went 1-for-2 totally three RBIs on the night. Infielder Parker Miles added one hit with two runs for the Rogues.

Game 2: Medford 2, Wenatchee 1

The Rogues only hit of the game came in the bottom of the seventh inning off of a two-run homer by Palensky after outfielder Danny McNabb was walked with one out in the inning.

Wenatchee pitcher Trevor Lubking had a no-hitter through six-innings with seven strikeouts and two walks before giving up the only hit for the Rogues. Rogues pitcher Justin Jacome (UC Santa Barbara) made his Medford debut, pitching five complete innings and allowing six hits and no runs with six strikeouts.

After winning the first two games of the series, the Rogues are now 8-12 in the West Coast League while the AppleSox fall to 8-9 in the WCL. The Rogues look to complete the sweep of Wenatchee on Wednesday night in the final game of the series at Harry and David Field and extend the team's winning streak to four. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
