Klamath Falls, OR: June 24, 2013 The Cowlitz Black Bears took advantage of 11 walks by Gems pitching and scratched out six hits to defeat Klamath Falls 4-3 on Monday night at Kiger Stadium, in the first of three games between the two teams. Gems batters could only manage two hits off Black Bears starter Billy Sahlinger (University of Portland) and five hits overall.
Nick Fisher (Linfield College) had three hits for the Gems who fall to 9-7. Cowlitz won their second straight game and improved to 7-6 on the year. Anthony Olmo (San Mateo Community College) took the loss in his first appearance of the year for the Gems, and Sahlinger improved to 1-1 with the win for Cowlitz.
The next Gems game will be Tuesday, June 25th as the Gems host the Cowlitz Black Bears; with the first pitch at 6:35 pm. Tuesday's promotion is Bi-Mart Two Dollar Tuesdays. $2 Pavilion General Admission Tickets, $2 Domestic Beers, and $2 Hot Dogs every Tuesday home game all season long.
