Medford Rogues News Release
MEDFORD, OR - The Rogues were unable to fight off a sweep by the Falcons and fell in game three of the series, 4-9.
Taylor Johnson was on the mound to start things off for the Rogues but the Falcons scored quickly in the bottom of the first against Johnson. Seven runs crossed the plate off of four hits. Johnson faced seven batters, walking two and giving up three hits before being pulled. Daniel Ferrell took over things in the first giving up one hit of his own and walking one, getting the Rogues out of the bottom of the first, trailing 0-7.
Nathan Etheridge put the Rogues on the board with a solo home run leading off the top of the second. The same exact place in the lineup last night when he hit an identical home run over the left field fence. After turning a couple of double plays, the Medford defense was able to hold off Falcon scoring while the Rogues were able to plate three more runs in the third inning. Jimmy Wright reached base on a leadoff double, followed by walks by Stefan Panayioutou and Brock Pradere. All three were able to cross the plate, making it a 4-7 ballgame heading into the fourth inning.
Rogues pitching only gave up three hits after the fourth inning but that wasn't enough to hold off another Falcon run. Dustin Hughes came in relief in the seventh inning for Medford and walked the leadoff batter, Justin Flores. Flores stole second and then was brought in by an RBI single by Brandon Oliver.
Falcons pitching faced just three batters in the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth innings, not giving up a hit, walk or run to the Rogues.
Medford was retired in order in the top of the ninth and the Falcons were able to secure the sweep with the 4-9 win.
The Rogues head to Wenatchee to face the AppleSox in another three game series, with the first game set to start at 7:05pm, June 15 at Paul Thomas Sr. Field.
