MEDFORD, OR - Led by another strong outing by LHP Mac Acker, the Medford Rogues took the final game of a three-game series against the Cowlitz Black Bears by a score of 5-2 at Harry & David Field on Monday. The win gives Medford three straight home series sweeps and extends the team's home winning streak to ten.

Cowlitz took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first as Acker (5-3) started slowly with two wild pitches and a walk, allowing both runs to score with no hits helped by an error. From that point the lefty dominated the Black Bears, giving up two hits and striking out four through the next seven shutout innings. RHP Hector Lujan finished Cowlitz off in the ninth to pick up his third save of the season.

The Rogues tied the game in the bottom of the first as RF Matt Taylor singled and 3B Parker Miles walked. Two passed balls allowed the runs to score the tying runs. DH Jerad Casper then took over the Rogues offense, driving in two runs in the third inning and one in the fifth, ending the game 2-4 with three RBI.

Cowlitz pitcher Stuart Fewel (0-1) took the loss in his Black Bears debut.

The Rogues win, combined with a Klamath Falls loss, moves Medford into third place in the WCL South and keeps the Rogues 4 ½ games out of the second playoff spot in the South. Medford heads to Bellingham and Cowlitz for a six-game road trip before returning home to finish the regular season with a three-game set against Kitsap beginning on August 6.
