Rogues Fall Short to Falcons

MEDFORD, OR - Early runs by the Rogues were not enough as they fell in game two against the Kelowna Falcons, 2-4.

The Rogues got on the board early, with a lead-off, solo home run by Nathan Etheridge, his second of the season. Stefan Panayiotou then reached on a single and was able to cross the plate after an RBI single by J.J. Kitaoka.

The Falcons answered with a home run of their own off the bat of Justin Flores, also in the lead-off spot in the fourth inning. They were also able to score on an RBI single in the fourth, tying everything up at 2-runs apiece after four.

Kelowna was able to plate a run again in the fifth inning after Kirby McGuire reached on a single, and led the Rogues 2-3 heading into the sixth inning. The Rogues were able to put runners on third in both the sixth and seventh innings but were unable to get them across the plate. Kelowna scored another run in the bottom of the seventh inning putting two runs between them and Medford.

During the ninth inning, Rogues batters reached base twice, a single by Panayioutou and a single by J.J. Kitaoka. The runners were stranded by a groundout by Brock Pradere and the Falcons were able to hold on to their lead, beating the Rogues, 2-4.

A.J. Dean recorded the loss for the Rogues, going five innings, giving up three runs on eight hits, striking out one. Elias Bendolla got the win for the Falcons going six innings, giving up two runs on six hits, striking out three and walking one.

Game three between Medford and Kelowna is Sunday night at 6:05pm.
