Rogues Drop Series Finale

June 20, 2014 - West Coast League (WCL)
Medford Rogues News Release

MEDFORD, OR - After Wednesday night's close loss to Petaluma's Top Speed, the Medford Rogues were unable to level the series as they dropped the second game 6-3 tonight at Harry and David Field. The Rogues still hold a 7-3 record and return to league play tomorrow against the Cowlitz Black Bears with a one-game lead over the Corvallis Knights in the WCL South.

Similar to the night before, Top Speed jumped to an early 4-0 lead in the second inning after the first showed signs that the game might be a pitcher's duel between Top Speed's Ryan Eddy and starting Rogues pitcher Brandon Erickson. However, the Rogues were unable to kick start any offensive drive as they trailed Top Speed from start to finish.

The Rogues managed six hits while mainly playing newcomers and backups. Thursday marked the arrival of the rest of the complete roster for the Rogues. The new arrivals were led by 2013 Rogues star Joe Chavez (UC Riverside). Chavez arrived during the game, as did OF Jeremy Goldenetz and RHP Mat Snider, both from Pepperdine, and Oregon State lefthander Trent Shelton. All will be in uniform and ready to play on Friday.

Still at the top of the WCL South standings, the Rogues return to league play with three game series against the Cowlitz Black Bears. The first of the series starts tomorrow at Harry and David Field at 6:35p.m. The Black Bears come to Medford with a 7-5 record, good for third in the WCL West Division.
