Kelowna Falcons News Release
The Kelowna Falcons captured their first road series win of the summer on Thursday beating the Walla Walla Sweets 6-5.
The Falcons jump out to a quick 2-0 lead after the first two innings as lead-off man Kevin Biro went to work. The UBC Thunderbird scored the first run of the game, then knocked in Jerod Smith in the second to give the visitors a two run lead.
The Sweets finally got to Falcons' starter Jeremy Alderman in the fifth, scoring two runs and tying the game.
The tie was short lived as the Falcons scored three runs in the next half inning to regain the lead. Thomas Lane connected with a two-run single, then scored on Ryan Degner's sac fly.
In the eighth the Falcons added what proved to be the winning run. Smith scored for the third time on a Colton Waltner RBI single.
Alderman collected the win, while Riley Barr mopped up the ninth to record the save.
The Falcons (5-7) win just their second series of the summer, as they board the bus and head to Corvallis for a date with the Knights (7-5). It'll be a homecoming of sorts for coaches Billy Clontz, Richie Jimenez and Dylan Jones, who all played with the Knights in the last few years.
