Roersma Named TELUS October Player of the Month
November 18, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, MB - The Brandon Wheat Kings in partnership with TELUS are proud to announce that Rylen Roersma has been named the Player of the Month for October.
The 17-year-old Brandon Wheat Kings forward, who has eight goals and six assists through 16 Western Hockey League games this season, is leading the club in goals and is just a point back of veteran forward Nolan Ritchie for the team lead in scoring.
"Rylen has been really consistent for us," said Head Coach Don MacGillivray. "He's contributing both offensively and defensively. He's coming into his own as a rookie in this league."
Roersma, who is technically still listed as a WHL Rookie, due to playing just 17 games in the Hub, recorded four goals and five assists in ten games in the month of October, including a three and a four-game goal scoring streak.
This award is presented to the Wheat King, who best demonstrates success - both on and off the ice - as a teammate and role model in the community.
TELUS will present Rylen with this monthly award during the first intermission of this Friday's game at Westoba Place against the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors.
