Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release
Waldorf, MD - The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs placed infielder Jorge Rodriguez on the disabled list today with a wrist injury. The timetable for Rodriguez's return is indefinite.
In his first season with the Blue Crabs, Rodriguez was hitting .261 with three RBI in only 26 games and 69 at-bats. The Miami, FL native came to Southern Maryland after playing last season with the Joliet (IL) Jackhammers of the independent Northern League. 2011 is only Rodriguez's fourth season in professional baseball, all at the independent league level.
The Blue Crabs will finish the first-half of their season as they head to Camden, NJ for a three-game series with the Riversharks beginning on Friday at 7:05. The Blue Crabs will send righty Virgil Vasquez (3-5, 5.07 ERA) to the hill against southpaw J.R. Mathes (1-2, 4.75 ERA) for the Riversharks. The game can be heard on www.somdbluecrabs.com.
