Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release
The Blue Wahoos have added a bit of power to their lineup with the addition of outfielder Yorman Rodriguez from Bakersfield.
Now in his fifth professional season, Rodriguez was hitting .251 with nine homers and 35 RBI at the time of his promotion from the Blaze, both ranking second on the team. He was tied for third in the California League with 20 doubles in 63 games. Rodriguez is a member of the 40-man roster for the Reds at just 20 years of age. He's rated as the 16th-best prospect in the Reds system and has the best outfield arm in the organization according to Baseball America.
Rodriguez was signed by the Reds in 2008 out of Ocumare de la Costa, Venezuela, signing on his 16th birthday. He's posted a career .259 average with 18 HR and 149 RBI in four seasons prior to 2013.
In a corresponding move, UTIL Joe Mather was released from the organization. Mather, signed by the Reds in early May, hit .174 with Pensacola in 31 games with two homers and 10 RBI.
