LAST WEEK'S RECORD: 1-1-0 OVERALL RECORD: 12-32-5, 29 pts., 4th Place Northwest Division
Feb. 23 @ Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, 5-4 Loss - In their second one-goal loss to the league's hottest team in the span of eight days, the Rage built three one-goal leads throughout the first half of the game only to see the Mudbugs battle from behind on each occasion. Two power play goals against in the final three minutes of the second period put Rocky Mountain behind, 5-3, a deficit from which they never fully recovered.
Feb. 24 @ Memphis RiverKings, 6-1 Win - One of the Rage's most impressive wins of the season, the RiverKings had not lost in regulation at home since Nov. 24, a span of 16 games (14-0-2). Trevor Cunning made 33 saves between the pipes, Trevor Weisgerber recorded a goal and two assists, and John DiPace scored twice as Rocky Mountain snapped an eight-game winless skid.
THIS WEEK'S UPCOMING GAMES
Tuesday, Feb. 27 vs. Lubbock Cotton Kings, 7:05 p.m. MST - The first of a two-game set against the Cotton Kings.
Wednesday, Feb. 28 vs. Lubbock Cotton Kings, 7:05 p.m. MST - The make-up game from the originally scheduled Dec. 21st contest between the two clubs that was postponed due to the Holiday Blizzard. Season ticket holders (and others, if applicable) should use their tickets dated Dec. 21 for this game.
Friday, March 2 vs. Amarillo Gorillas, 7:05 p.m. MST - The first 500 kids 12 and under will receive a free Rage Jersey courtesy of Sam's Club as Rocky Mountain captain Dan Vandermeer looks to slow down the offensive exploits of his younger brother, Bill, who leads the Gorillas in scoring.
Saturday, March 3 @ Colorado Eagles, 7:05 p.m. MST - The 12th and final meeting in the season series between the two Front Range rivals.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday's play-by-play can be heard live on KLZ 560 AM beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the pre-game show. Saturday's game will air live on KLDC 810 AM also beginning at 6:50 p.m.
NOTES
* Mark Wires and Trevor Weisgerber are now tied for the team scoring lead with 41 points apiece. Wires leads the team with 17 goals, and Weisgerber paces the club with 25 assists.
* Saturday's victory was the Rage's first since a 2-1 shootout decision over the Wichita Thunder on Feb. 2.
* Tracy Egeland began his coaching career in Lubbock where he spent two years as a player/assistant coach before taking over as the Cotton Kings' head coach mid-way through the 2002-03 season.
* Adam Stefishen's 214 penalty minutes are the fourth highest total in the league.
* The Rage's two games against Lubbock snap a string of nine straight games against either first or second place teams. The Cotton Kings begin the week in fourth place in the Southwest Division.
