New York Boulders News Release
(Ramapo,NY) The Bears offense erupted for 14 hits as the Boulders used seven pitchers in an 8-3 loss to Newark at Provident Bank Park. Hassett, Jurik, Rubio, Santana, Johnson, Martin and King all saw innings as Rockland dropped its second in a row.
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, Rockland battled back to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the inning on a two-run blast from Phillip Cuadrado. The homer was Cuadrado's seventh of the season and ties him with Ryan Scoma for second most on the team.
But the Bears would not be denied. Newark would score three runs in the top of the second courtesy of home runs from Tucker Nathans and Quentin Davis. That would also mark the end of the day for starter Will Hassett who surrendered four runs on seven hits in one and one third innings.
Newark would go on to add two runs in the top of the fourth before Rockland could respond. In the bottom of the sixth Brandon Pinckney drove in Cuadrado on a RBI single to make the score 6-3.
That would be as close as the Boulders would come as Newark added two more in the top of the ninth to make the final 8-3.
Rockland heads to Newark tomorrow for an 11:05 a.m start against the Bears. The Boulders return to Provident Bank Park on Thursday before heading to Worcester for a weekend series against the Tornadoes.
